The police at the UC Berkeley campus protest ( last night ) did nothing when the protesters started destroying property. They just watched as the protesters dressed like terrorists, faces covered wearing all black, destroyed property and later turned on innocent people and attacked people. Some people were hit with objects the protesters were holding. The police watched but did nothing. See UC Berkeley Protests Milo
The speaker they were protesting had made fun of the professional protesters before at other Universities where he had been a guest speaker.
The reason the protesters were mad about him speaking at a supposed liberal university, UC Berkeley, ( If I would have known that when I was younger I never would have dated Katherine,) was because he uses racial statements that are humorous that they take as bad racist talk. His speeches are sort of like listening to Archie Bunker. Apparently there are people who think he is funny and interesting. He does make a point out of things. Good or bad I'm not judging. But Hitler like? No. Openly hateful and menacing? No.
I guess the protesters grew up in a different time.
It's not that.... It's the reaction of police there at UC Berkeley compared to Standing Rock. Peaceful protesters arrested, abused, treated badly. Weapons pointed at them shot with rubber bullets and mace used sprayed in their faces. Water cannons used. Percussion grenades openly tossed into crowds. That's SWAT team tactics. Beating people with clubs. Dogs set on them. While being falsely accused and classified as riotous; while they pray. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/nov/29/standing-rock-protest-north-dakota-shutdown-evacuation
Why is there such a difference in the response of the police between the two different protests? Use the links to each site to see the differences. In one picture you can see a man who has been bloodied standing behind a guard fence, seemingly to protect himself. And also, at UC Berkeley a woman with long blond hair is assaulted with a pole or stick as the protester hits her in the head. I don't think it was a serious wound but I can't say.
I have watched hundreds of hours of Standing Rock protests on videos. I know there is a difference in how people are treated. It seems that Native Americans are automatically looked at as militant but other protesters are treated as non threatening.
I saw no military type equipment at UC Berkeley. Or riot police.
With apparent abuse and human and civil rights violations as well as cultural violations against protesters and the Standing Rock Reservation people, there has been little or no attention on those issues. Land that does not belong to the government is treated as eminent domain sanctuary for business interests of foreign governments. The pipelines are built for American oil and then sold to foreign oil companies. This is a trick to get eminent domain for their pipelines.
Dirty tricks. Abuse. Double standards. Apathy. Media bias. Human rights violations. Cultural violations. Land and treaty violations. And then police brutality.
What's next? Terrorizing people for protesting?
