It's not the pipeline that is dangerous. It's what they want to put in the pipeline that is dangerous. It's how they get what is put in the pipeline that is destructive and hazardous to people's health and dangerous to the environment and to animals.
The toxins that are generated from the processing (fracking) the oil sands in Canada are rapidly spreading. The toxins are entering the water in Alberta, unchecked. The retaining lakes are leaking, unchecked. The toxins are killing wildlife. The toxins will reach American waters if they are not stopped. The toxins leaking into the water supply in Alberta and into Aquifers can pollute rivers and streams in the United States. Eventually the toxins could work their way into the Mississippi River.
Over 200 leaks have been reported from the new pipelines alone. It's not a question of whether the pipeline will leak toxins into water supplies in the United States, it's a matter that it will, without doubt. The pipeline is not safe. The toxins in the oil sands sludge to keep it moving through the pipelines is not safe. The toxins in the oil in the pipelines are unsafe.
The oil that goes into the pipelines needs to be classified as hazardous chemicals. The pipelines are not safe enough to protect the water. The oil from Canadian oil sands in Alberta should be outlawed. America does not need the toxic oil from Canada. The destruction in Alberta should be stopped.
Putting toxic oil into pipelines and transporting it through the United States should be outlawed.
